Our Founding:
The Sister Schools Program was initiated in 1998 under the auspices of the San Diego International Sister Cities Corporation. An agreement with the San Diego Unified School District was signed in 1999, and renewed in 2002.

Due to overwhelming success and participation, in March of 2001 Sister Schools of San Diego was incorporated as a separate nonprofit organization fully dedicated to this program, .

Our Goals:

• Promote the latest communication technologies into teaching and learning.
• Globalization of classrooms through collaborative projects.
• Increasing student proficiency across subject areas with a focus on literacy.
• Improving multicultural awareness and promoting international understanding.

What We Do:
The Sister Schools program promotes projects and international exchanges at the primary, middle, and high school levels. Since the program's inception, participation has blossomed from a single undertaking at Morse High School to a mulitude of interdisciplinary of projects linking San Diego schools with schools worldwide.

Participating teachers and students have expressed their appreciation for the creation of worldwide connections and for the impact these connections make in broadening their educational experience and understanding of different cultures. The program has also found approval in the community and among business leaders, and is supported by individual Sister City societies.
